REVIEW: Creed III ‘Fails To Deliver A Knockout Punch’

By Gary

The latest movie in the Rocky franchise is here, but does Creed III truly fail to deliver a knockout punch?

After dominating the boxing world, Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) has been thriving in both his career and family life.

When childhood friend and former boxing prodigy Damian (Jonathan Majors) resurfaces after serving a long sentence in prison, he is eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring.

The faceoff between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Adonis must put his future on the line to battle Damian–a fighter who has nothing to lose.

A solid entry in the franchise. The movie hits all the familiar beats and points that you’ve come to love and expect from any of the previous films.

I do believe that buried deep inside of this script, is a film that could have been magnificent.

These films have always been exciting and entertaining, but this film just seems to fall short, and I came out thinking I’ve seen this before. Like a lot of movies today Creed III lacks somewhat in originality.

Everywhere you look in the cinema there are sequels/prequels/remakes/reboots, so Creed III isn’t alone in my criticism of it lacking originality.

A lot of people seem to like this movie though judging by some of the good reviews it has received, for me it is OK and shows promise just fails to deliver a knockout punch.

My Rating: 6/10
