Workington Zebras Rugby Union Ladies or Finches are only 80 minutes away from a place in the Women’s Junior Plate final.

Victory on Sunday, March 5, against Lichfield Green Ladies would see the Finches take their place in the final where they could face either Welwyn Ladies or Avonmouth Ladies.

Their journey started back in September with a trip to Skipton Ladies on the 18 and a 57-10 defeat in the Women’s Cup moved the West Cumbrian side into the Plate competition.

The Finches then beat Old Brodleians Ladies 21-5 were awarded the win against Scarborough Valkyries and then met Penrith Ladies on February 5.

Tries from Thornbery, Donald and Whelan took Workington through to the semifinal with 17-5 win over their East Cumbrian rivals.

This set up the home tie against Lichfield Green Ladies at Ellis Sports Ground where the two side will kickoff at 1:00pm (13:00) on Sunday March 5.
