Lancashire FA Women’s County Leagues Head Towards A Nail Biting Conclusion

All four of the Lancashire FA Women’s County Leagues are to close to call as the teams head into the penultimate month of the season.

In Division One on Sunday February 5 Kendal Town and Whitehaven AFC game was postponed as Chipping moved three points clear after a 2-4 win at Blackpool.

Lancaster City closed the gap to Whitehaven with a 13-1 victory over Cadley and Sir Tom Finney and St. Annes could not be separated as they drew 2-2.

Whitehaven will be looking to go back to the top on Sunday February 12 when they face Cadley in a 1:15pm (13:15) kickoff.

Lancaster City host Sir Tom Finney and Kendal Town take on Blackpool both kickoff at 2pm (14:00).

In Division One South/East the top two were involved in big wins on February 5 as Horwich 11-0 against AFC Wigan and Euxton hit a 12-0 at home to Darwen.

Third place Penwortham Town recorded the biggest win of the round with a 0-13 away win over Clitheroe and fourth place Astley Bridge kept up with them with a 5-1 win over Bury.

Only two games on February 12 as Astley Bridge host Lostock Gerards and Penwortham face Clitheroe.

All matches are a 2pm (14:00) kickoff.

There are new leaders of the Premier Division after Fleetwood Town’s 0-9 win at Clitheroe on February 5.

Stanwix are still in third place after a 4-0 defeat to fourth placed Bury, Burnley beat Accrington 2-0 and Langho won 3-0 against Darwen.

Stanwix can move into second and a point off top when they travel to Fleetwood on February 12.

Bury host Burnley knowing a win would take them into third and two points off top, Clitheroe face Langho and Darwen take on Accrington.

In the Championship GT7’s difficult start to 2023 continued on February 5 as they left Bolton Wanderers with a 2-1 defeat.

Morecambe are still looking for their first points of the season after a 0-7 defeat by Euxton and Preston North End lost out 3-4 to Penrith.

Four games are scheduled for February 12 as Blackburn Community face Bolton County, Bolton Wanderers host Fleetwood, Euxton take on GT7 and Preston North End welcome Morecambe.
