Crucial Matches In The North West Women’s Regional Football League

There were crucial games at both ends of the North West Women’s Regional Football League as February started with a bang.

Curzon Ashton have opened up a four point gap with a 4-2 victory over West Didsbury on Sunday February 5 as Salford City were held to a 1-1 draw at Cheadle Town.

Third placed FC United are now a point behind Salford after a 1-8 win at Blackburn Community while Fleetwood and Crewe Alexandra played out a 4-4 draw and Mossley Hill are four points adrift after a 0-1 defeat at home to Darwen.

The battle for second continues on Sunday February 12 with Salford City hosting Crewe Alexander and FC United welcoming Mossley Hills as Darwen look to build on last weeks win when they face Cheadle Town.

All matches are a 2pm (14:00) kickoff.

The top two in Division One North are now separated by two points after the pair faced each other on February 5.

Blackpool cut Haslingden’s lead as they beat them 4-1, Penrith stay in the hunt with a 1-7 win at Chorley while Preston North End beat Morecambe 2-1.

Accrington Stanley moved above Morecambe with a 0-4 win at Sir Tom Finney, Bolton Wanderers sent Workington Reds back to West Cumbria with a 2-1 defeat and Penwortham Town lost 1-4 to Carlisle United who swapped places with them in the league.

The top two are in action on February 12 as Haslingden host Morecambe and Blackpool head to Penrith with the league’s top spot potentially changing hands, while Chorley play Carlisle United.

All fixtures are a 2pm (14:00) kickoff.

In Division One South there was no change to the top three on February 5 as Runcorn beat BRNESC 1-2, Bury picked up a 0-12 win over Wythenshawe to give their goal difference a boost while Poulton Vics recorded a 3-0 win at home to Hindley.

Chester’s 1-5 win at Warrington Wolves moved them into fourth and Altrincham are up to eighth after a 4-0 win over Alder.

The top three are in action on February 12 as Runcorn look to stay three points clear when they host Northwich, while Bury will hope to keep the pressure on as they welcome Altrincham and Poulton will be waiting for a mistake from either side when they play Wythenshawe.
