Mark Jenkinson Confirmed As First Candidate For New Penrith And Solway Constituency

The parliamentary boundaries in Cumbria are changing and the first candidate for one of the constituencies has been announced.

Penrith and Solway will be contested by current Workington MP Mark Jenkinson, who was elected in December 2019.

The Conservative member of parliament took to social media to share the news about his selection for the newly created constituency.

In the posts Mr Jenkinson said: “I am delighted to have been chosen today to represent the Conservatives in the new Penrith and Solway constituency at the next election.

“Penrith and Solway is the constituency in which I live, in which I spent much of my childhood and over half of which I have represented since 2019.

“Until then my focus remains my constituents in my current Workington constituency.”

The constituency will be fought for at the next election along with the proposed Barrow and Furness, Carlisle, Westmorland and Lonsdale, and Whitehaven and Workington.
