Carlisle MP, John Stevenson has welcomed Cumbria Law Centre’s grant funding from the Access To Justice Foundation.
The Carlisle based organisation is one of the 55 organisations to be awarded funding from the Access to Justice Foundation on behalf of the Ministry of Justice.
Cumbria Law Centre have received a grant of £52,500.
Speaking John Stevenson said: “I am delighted to hear that this funding will be utilised in Carlisle.
“It will help many of our more vulnerable residents who are unfortunately experiencing civil, family or social welfare legal problems.
“This will enable people to be assisted to resolve issues at an early stage or supported at the court or tribunal for those cases that progress.”
In July 2022 the Government announced grant funding of £3.2 million to support vulnerable people to resolve their legal problems, primarily social welfare issues including debt, housing and employment.
Cumbria Law Centre is a community organisation based in Carlisle that offer free legal advise and representation to the people of Cumbria.
They focus on civil, social welfare law in Housing, Employment and Welfare Benefit matters with priority given to those on the lowest income.
