Marathon Man Gary McKee Raises £1 Million For Charity With 365 Marathons

Setting off on another fundraising run for Macmillan Cancer Support and Hospice at Home West Cumbria Gary McKee set a £1 Million target.

Starting on January 1 2021 his aim was to run 365 marathons, a full year of 26.2 miles.

Roll round to December 31 2022 and number 365 he has gone and hit his target with over 30,000 supporters donating, that’s half a million in just over a day.

The achievement of running that many marathons has brought congratulations from all areas of the Cumbrian community and UK with Egremont Rangers, Barrow AFC and even Carol Vorderman taking to social media to show support and encouragement.

Macmillan Cancer Support and Hospice at Home West Cumbria will both get a share of the £1 million and more as funds continue to come in.

Now that the Marathon Man has added 365 days to his 100 and 110 days, Coast to Coasts, Fred Whitton and hot coal walk just to name a few of the fundraisers that Gary has undertaken in his 20 years of raising money.
