As 2022 draws to a close there have been some big series come to a close and some potentially massive ones launched.

Here are our ten best with Netflix, Disney, HBO/Sky and BBC all featuring on the list but which ones have missed out.

1) The Sandman – Season 1

Synopsis: Upon escaping after decades of imprisonment by a mortal wizard, Dream, the personification of dreams, sets about to reclaim his lost equipment.

Stars: Tom Sturridge, Boyd Holbrook, Patton Oswalt, David Thewlis, Gwendoline Christie and Stephen Fry.

2) Stranger Things – Season 4

Stars: Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo and Natalia Dyer.

Synopsis: Set in March 1986, eight months after the events of the third season, the fourth season is split between different plotlines.

3) Ozark – Season 4

Synopsis: The final season is broken into two parts. The Byrde family are forced to reckon with Omar Navarro and his wishes, no matter how impossible they seem. They work with the FBI to make a deal.

Stars: Jason Bateman, Laura Linney and Julia Garner.

4) House Of The Dragon – Season 1

Stars: Matt Smith, Rhys Ifans, Paddy Considine, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Milly Alcock and Emily Carey.

Synopsis: An internal succession war within House Targaryen at the height of its power, 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen and Game Of Thrones.

5) Andor (Star Wars) – Season 1

Synopsis: Prequel series to Star Wars’ ‘Rogue One’. In an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue, Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a Rebel hero.

Stars: Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O’Reilly and Andy Serkis.

6) The Crown – Season 5

Stars: Imelda Staunton, Jonathan Pryce, Elizabeth Debeckiand Dominic West.

Synopsis: A much-needed update to the Royal Yacht draws scrutiny to the Queen’s reign. Hounded by the press, Charles and Diana have a second honeymoon in Italy. Prince Philip offers his support to a grieving family member.

7) Peaky Blinders: Season 6

Stars: Cillian Murphy, Paul Anderson, Tom Hardy and Anya Taylor-Joy.

Synopsis: Season five shows Tommy’s attempt to pull that weed up by its roots, and how deeply those roots reach through the British establishment. From this side of WWII, viewers know that Tommy’s strategy against Mosley, fascism and the threat of another world war is doomed to fail.

8) Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – S1

Synopsis: A prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series, the show will follow the crew of the USS Enterprise under Captain Christopher Pike.

Stars: Anson Mount, Melissa Navia, Ethan Peck and Rebecca Romijn.

9) Better Call Saul – Season 6

Stars: Bob Odenkirk, Rhea Seehorn, Jonathan Banks and Giancarlo Esposito.

Synopsis: The sixth season picks up where the fifth left off. The first nine episodes mainly take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2004, four years before Jimmy McGill (Odenkirk) begins his association with Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul). The remaining episodes mainly take place in 2010, after the events of Breaking Bad, and show Saul living in Omaha, Nebraska under the alias “Gene Takavic”, hiding from the authorities after the demise of associate Walter White.

10) The Rings of Power – Season 1

Synopsis: Epic drama set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.

Stars: Morfydd Clark, Charlie Vickers, Daniel Weyman and Lenny Henry.
