Battles At The Top Of Lancashire FA Women’s County Leagues

The league leaders of the Lancashire FA Women’s County League were in action with most facing their closest rival.

The top two teams faced each other in the Division 1 North/West and shared an eight goal thriller on November 27 as Whitehaven AFC and Chipping finished 4-4.

The other Cumbrian side in the division Kendal Town picked up a 4-1 win over bottom side Sir Tom Finney as Cadley’s 10-0 win over St Annes leaves them a point behind the visitors.

Three games take place on Sunday December 4 with a Cumbrian derby as Whitehaven AFC welcome Kendal Town, St. Annes host Lancaster City and Sir Tom Finney take on Blackpool Town.

The top two faced each other in Division One South/East on November 27 as Horwich St Annes extended their lead at the top with a 4-3 win over Euxton.

Darwen FC also ended up in a seven goal thriller as Ashley Bridge moved joint second with a 3-4 win and Clitheroe Wolves suffered a heavy 1-13 defeat against Bury FC.

The match between Penwortham Town and AFC Wigan was postponed.

The first games in December take place on Sunday 4 with the three joint second place teams in action as Euxton hosting Clitheroe, Astley Bridge travel to Bury FC, Penwortham Town head to Lostock St Gerards and AFC Wigan take on Darwen FC.

All matches are a 2pm (14:00) kickoff.

In the Premier Division table toppers Colne FC beat Accrington Stanley for a second time in a week on Sunday 27 as they ran out 7-0 winners.

Langho put 6 past Clitheroe as they closed the gap to third.

There are two games on December 4 as Accrington Stanley host Stanwix Juniors and Clitheroe Wolves take on Darwen FC.

In the Championship Penrith AFC and Bolton County played out an 11 goal feast as the home side took the lions share with an 8-3 win on Sunday 27.

The other game on that day fourth placed Euxton Girls lost 2-4 to Preston North End.

The next round on Sunday December 4 has a bottom of the table battle as Blackburn Community Sports Club take on Morecambe Ladies, Bolton County face Blackpool FC, Bolton Wanderers Girls host Penrith AFC Ladies and Fleetwood Town Wrens play Preston North End.
