Ahead of Small Business Saturday UK Carlisle MP John Stevenson has spoken out encouraging people to support Cumbrian small businesses.
Small Business Saturday UK, taking place Saturday December 3, is a grassroots campaign.
This year will be the tenth time the event has taken place to highlight small business success and encourages consumers to shop local and support small businesses in their communities.
Speaking John said: “We are very fortunate in Carlisle to be home to a large number of inspirational small businesses across a wide number of sectors from retail to catering, from service providers to artists and designers, to name but a few.
“Small businesses make a vital and often unique contribution to our local economy and keep our local offer to customers and visitors vibrant.
“I’m encouraging everyone to show them support and thank them for the difference they make to our communities, either in person or online, making purchases, giving favourable feedback, spreading the word and leaving positive reviews.”
The day itself takes place on the first Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact all year round on all small businesses.
