Cumbrian Rugby Union Sides Return To Action

After a week off for most of the Cumbrian teams involved they return with a bang this weekend.

Cumbria’s Regional 1 North West Division representatives both fell to defeats on Saturday November 12 with Kendal going down 19-24 at Northwich and Kirkby Lonsdale lost 65-5 away to Manchester.

Blackburn are still top of the pile after a 23-36 win over now fourth Sandbach, two points behind are Lymm with a 15-38 win at Macclesfield, Rossendale are back up to third with a 27-31 win at Burnage and Stockport picked up a slim 24-22 win over Wirral.

With no games on November 19 the teams return to action on Saturday November 26 when league leaders Blackburn face Stockport, Lymm host Manchester, Kendal take on third placed Rossendale, Burnage welcome Sandbach, Wirral play Macclesfield and Kirkby Lonsdale host Northwich.

It was a difficult round in the Regional 2 North division for the Cumbrian sides on Remembrance weekend.

Second placed Penrith kept pace with table topping Morpeth with a 49-15 victory over Carlisle while Morpeth left Keswick with a 7-31 win to stay two points clear.

While Aspatria lost 17-23 to Durham City, Middlesbrough pipped Percy Park 28-24 in a tight game and Northern beat Consett 38-24.

In a two point game South Shields Westoe sent Stockton away with a narrow 20-18 defeat.

The rest of the league had a weekend off on November 19 but Aspatria put it to good use with a 38-20 win over Stockton.

It is a full fixture list on Saturday November 26 as Carlisle take on Keswick, Penrith travel to Consett, Percy Park host Aspatria and Stockton face Middlesbrough.

Two games kick off at 2pm (14:00) as Durham City play Northern and leaders Morpeth will look to stay top against South Shields Westoe.

In the Cumbria League Upper Eden made it nine from nine with a 30-22 win at home to third placed Cockermouth while Egremont almost lost their unbeaten tag with a tight 34-36 win at Silloth on Saturday November 12.

St Benedicts moved into fourth place with a 17-5 win over Creighton and Millom sit sixth with a 42-10 victory over Hawcoat Park.

Whitehaven and Workington game was postponed with the visitors struggling to raise a team.

After no games on November 19 the league returns on Saturday November 26 with leaders Upper Eden travelling to Creighton while Egremont host St Benedicts.

Third placed Cockermouth welcome Whitehaven, Hawcoat Park take on Penrith II and Workington play Wigton.
