Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice are warmly inviting the community to remember a loved one during the festive period and help support their local hospice as part of their annual Light Up a Life campaign.

For many, Christmas can be a time of year to remember loved ones who are no longer with us, but still close to our hearts and for the many years the much-loved charity has brought the community together during their Light Up a Life events.

Palliative Care Social Worker and Family Support Team Lead, Wendy Ashton, explains: “The Light Up a Life appeal raises much-needed funds for the hospice, allowing us to continue caring for families when they need us most.

“It is also a special opportunity for us to take a chance to remember all of our loved ones

“We know times are tough this year but anything you can give is much appreciated no matter how large or small.

“The money raised will help the dedicated staff and volunteers to continue giving expert care, love and support to local people at their time of need.”

The hospice is thrilled to be able to host these events for the first time since 2019.

On Sunday November 27, thousands of lights will illuminate the hospice grounds as the local community remember and celebrate the life of loved ones and friends who are no longer with us.

Everybody is welcome to attend the service which will begin at 4.30pm at Eden Valley Hospice on Durdar Road, Carlisle

The charity will also host a service at Carlisle Cathedral on Friday December 9 as they invite you to celebrate the life of your loved one with them, knowing that every gift, every dedication and every memory, makes a real difference.

Last year the appeal helped raise an incredible £25,500 enabling more adults and children to be supported by the hospice.

People can choose to remember any one close to their heart during Light Up a Life, not just people who have been cared for by the local charity.
