Cumbrian Rugby Union Regional Round Up

Rugby union in Cumbria is in full flow with side playing across three divisions.

In the Regional 1 North West Division the two Cumbrian side involved are finding the going tough as Kirkby Lonsdale are yet to register a point after a 64-8 defeat against Wirral while Kendal went down 19-50 at home to second placed Lymm.

Table toppers Blackburn stay two points clear after a 52-17 win over Manchester, third placed Rossendale dropped back after losing 25-21 at Sandbach as Stockport closed the gap with a 28-14 win at home to Northwich.

Macclesfield picked up a 24-43 win away at second bottom Burnage.

On Saturday October 29 Kirby Lonsdale head to Lymm, Macclesfield host Kendal, Manchester face Burnage, Northwich take on table toppers Blackburn, Rossendale play Stockport as Sandbach host Wirral.

In the Regional 2 North Morpeth kept five points clear with a 33-6 win over Aspatria as second placed Penrith won the Cumbrian derby with a 10-69 win over Keswick while the fourth Cumbrian side Carlisle went down 5-64 against Middlesbrough.

Consett beat Percy Park in a close game 27-21 while Stockton lost 11-29 to Durham City with South Shields Westoe beating Northern by five in a 23-18 game.

On October 29 there is another Cumbrian derby as Aspatria host Carlsile, Keswick welcome Stockton and Penrith face South Shields Westoe.

Middlesbrough take on Consett as Percy Park play Durham City.

Morpeth will look to maintain if not extend their lead at the top when they play Northern in a later kickoff.

In the Cumbria League six matches took place on Saturday October 22.

Upper Eden stayed 8 points clear after coming away from Whitehaven with a 13-42 win as they ran in six trys.

Second placed Wigton kept a point ahead of Egremont with a 50-10 win at home to St Benedicts while Egremont beat Hawcoat Park 51-28.

Two points further back in fourth Cockermouth’s 19-7 win over Penrith 2nd helped increase the gap to fifth.

Both of the bottom two lost their games with second bottom Creighton losing 16-24 at home to Millom while Workington went down 10-29 to Silloth.

On Saturday October 29 the top four in the Cumbria League will be in action.

Unbeaten league leaders Upper Eden host second placed Wigton while Egremont head to Millom.

Fourth placed Cockermouth travel to Silloth and St Benedicts face Workington.
