While most eyes are on events in Australia in the T20 World Cup Furness have announced their professional for the 2023 cricket season.

They presented Yash Dubey, a 23 year old from India who represents Madhya Pradesh in the Indian top flight, on their social media accounts.

Included in the announcement was a comment from Pete Lawson, 2022 Captain who said: “Rob at Ace Cricket Exchange made us aware of the availability of Yash back in July and from that point onwards it was a very easy decision to make but we wanted to put the 2022 season to bed before informing everyone.

“Yash averages in the mid 40s in what is one of the best 1st class competitions in World Cricket.

“He had just scored a match winning 100 in the prestigious Ranji Trophy Final just weeks prior to us signing him, his English is great and he is an extremely committed cricketer so we snapped his hand off at a very early stage.

“We got some very good cricket and character references for Yash via ex FCC indian pros/contacts and we are confident Yash will fit in well with us and be a great role model to the junior members also.

“We have started the paperwork/work visa process already and we wish Yash the best of luck in his 22/23 indian Season.

“I would like to take the opportunity to thank Rob Ashwell at Ace Cricket Exchange and also The Cricket Solutions.”

The 2021 Cumbria League champions finished fourth in the 2022 in the competition with Nathan Waterston topping the batting with 934 runs scored.

They also reached the semifinal of the Higson Cup losing to eventual winners Workington.
