Appeal Launched As Ford Transit Involved In Fail To Stop Collision On A596

Cumbria Police officers are investigating a fail-to-stop collision, in which a cyclist was seriously injured, are appealing for witnesses.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:13pm October 10 on the westbound carriageway of the A596 between Wigton and Waverton.

A male cyclist, aged in his 50s, was involved in a collision with an orange Ford Transit van.

The driver of the van failed to stop and left the scene in the direction of Waverton.

The cyclist was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with potentially life changing injuries.

Officers are asking for witnesses to come forward and they are also seeking to hear from motorists who may have dashcam footage which may have captured the Ford Transit van travelling in the area.
