North West Women’s Regional Football Leagues Returns

The North West Women’s Regional Leagues are back on track after the death of Queen Elizabeth II and FA Cup.

On Sunday September 18 Cheadle Town picked up at 3-1 win at home to Fleetwood Town as Wigan Athletic lost 0-8 to Crewe Alexandra in a bottom of the table battle.

A week later on Sunday 25 Cheadle Town were back in action with a 0-1 win at Mossley Hill Athletic along with Crewe Alexandra who lost out in an eleven goal thriller 5-6 to Blackburn Community Sports Club.

FC United of Manchester beat West Didsbury and Chorlton 2-0 with Salford City winning 1-4 at Darwen FC.

In the Division One North there were only three games in the division as the FA cup kicks off on Sunday September 18 with Accrington Stanley sending Morecambe way with a 9-0 defeat.

Blackpool put 5 past Chorley with a 5-0 home win as Carlisle United suffered a 0-1 defeat at the hands of Haslingden.

Haslingden were back in Cumbria this time it wasn’t as happy a trip as they lost 2-1 to Workington Reds in the second match in their new home at Derwent Park on Sunday 25.

It was another big win for Blackpool with a 0-6 win at Sir Tom Finney while Morecambe went down 7-2 at Penrith AFC.

In Division One South there were only two games that took place on Sunday 18 as Poulton Vics picked up a 3-1 win against Alder and Runcorn Linnets FC closed the gap to Chester with a 4-2 win over them.

A week later on Sunday 25 Poulton Vics were back in action with a 1-2 at Hindley Juniors while league leaders Bury beat Northwich Vixens 0-2 to stay clear at the top.

Third placed Warrington Wolves were held to a 4-4 draw away at Altrincham FC.

This week has Poulton Vics looking to continue their run when they visit Alder, Hindley host Wythenshawe and Runcorn face BRNESC.

All matches are 14:00 (2:00pm) kickoff on Sunday October 2.
