Newlaithes Ladies Double Up With Andrea Buggy Women’s League Cup Win

The final of the Andrea Buggy Women’s League cup proved to be a battle between two of the leagues top clubs.

Played at Borough Park, Workington on Wednesday September 21 Newlaithes Ladies took on Whitehaven AFC Ladies.

Early in the match it was a story of two penalties with Whitehaven awarded the first that missed while Emma Sisson slotted Newlaithes away to make it 1-0.

Whitehaven kept pushing making the Newlaithes goalkeeper work to preserve the lead before Sisson doubled her tally to make it 2-0 at half time.

Newlaithes made it 3-0 with a Kerri Mallinson volley before Sophie May pulled one back for Whitehaven.

There were chances at both ends with both goalkeepers pulling saves out of the bag to keep it 3-1 at full time as Newlaithes added a cup win to their earlier league success.

It was a good season for Whitehaven too as they finished runners up in both the league and cup.
