Carlisle MP New Chair Of Northern Research Group

John Stevenson MP has been unanimously elected by members last Wednesday following former Chairman Jake Berry’s promotion to Party Chairman.

The Northern Research Group is a group founded by a number of Conservative MPs in the United Kingdom who were elected to represent constituencies in the north of England, Wales and the Scottish Borders in the 2019 General Election to pressure government for greater investment in the north.

Speaking John said: “I am very proud to be the Northern Research Group Chairman, during this crucial period for the north.

“I am pleased that the PM signed up to the Northern Research Group pledges during the leadership election. Our job now is to assist her and her cabinet in delivering on them, thereby ensuring the best opportunities for everyone across the North of England.

“Now the leadership election is behind us, we must refocus our efforts on delivering for every region across Britain. As chairman of one of the largest group of MPs in Parliament, I will ensure that the voice of people across the North is heard.”

Paying tribute to the former chairman, John added: “I would like to thank Jake for all the work he has done. He tirelessly kept the Northern Research Group agenda at the centre of political discourse, and I wish him well in his new role.”
