Cumbria Police can confirm that the body of a woman has been found in the area of the life boat station in Silloth.

The women was found at around 2:30pm today, Monday August 22.

Formal identification has not yet taken place and inquiries are ongoing.

Officers are treating the death as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious at this time.
