Cup Action Continues In Andrea Buggy Women’s League

The Wednesday night football continued in the Andrea Buggy Women’s League with three cup games.

League winners Newlaithes beat second placed Whitehaven AFC 5-2 with a nasty injury to Whitehaven player Sophie May who dislocated her elbow and carried on playing.

Two Nicola Smith, Stacey Harkness-Grant, Kerri Mallinson and Chelsea Murry gave Newlaithes the win with Ashleigh Mcallister and Erin Marley on the scoresheet for Whitehaven.

It was a back and forth game where Xtreme Fitness took a 3-2 win over Abbeytown.

Opening the scoring for Xtreme was top scorer Tiffany Lamb with Emma Crelling and Grace Earl adding the equalising and winning goal after Kate Brown and Eden Beattie had given Abbeytown the lead.

In Allerdale Wildcats match they fell 1-2 to Workington Diamonds.

In the next round of games Abbeytown host Whitehaven AFC, Allerdale Wildcats take on Vickerstown while Workington Diamonds play Penrith AFC.

All three matches are 19:15 (7:15pm) kickoff on Wednesday August 3.
