Half Way Point In Premier Division As New Leaders In Division One Of The Cumbria Cricket League

The Premier Division has reached the halfway point while new leaders in Division One as the leaders of Division Two remain unbeaten in the Cumbria Cricket League.

11 unbeaten in the Premier Division for Carlisle after beating Dalton.

Dalton won the toss and put the visitors into bat with opener Tom Benn scoring 79 as every batter added to the 216 total with Amari Goodridge taking 5 for 45.

In response Johnny Westgarth tormented Dalton taking 7 for 9 runs as they were bowled out for 69.

Second placed Cockermouth are still within touching distance of the leaders after a home win against Egremont.

Winning the toss the hosts were put into bat with Alex Hodgson top scoring with 27 as they finished on 92 with Sam Sharp taking 5 wickets for 14 runs.

For the hosts opener Gareth White led the way with 50 not out as they reached 93 to win.

Home side Millom won the toss and put Keswick into bat.

Stephen Hindmarch and Ben Sharp both made hundreds as Keswick reached 302 from their 50 overs.

Millom were bowled out for 76 as Scott Mcgown claimed 5 for 17.

Haverigg won the toss and put visitors Cleator into bat with Kevin Rogan taking 5 wickets for 20 as the visitors reached 109.

It was a successful chase for the hosts with Sachin Jayawardena and Joe Harvey took them over the line.

Winning the toss home side Whitehaven decided they would chase and put Furness into bat.

Furness’ batsman Nathan Waterston led the scoring with 89 as they finished on 275 before the bowlers went to work and dismissed Whitehaven for 95.

It was a close game between Wigton and Workington.

Wigton put the visitors into bat with Kristian Moffat top scoring with 39 as they were bowled out for 153 with every batter adding runs.

The home side almost chased Workington down needing 21 from the last 2 overs as the last wicket fell, Christopher Hodgson made 51.

There are new leaders in Division One as Lindal Moor are replaced at the top by Ulverston.

Heading to play Furness 2nds Lindal Moor won the toss and decided to bat first.

They were restricted to 110 with opener Chris Scrogham scoring 27.

In reply Jordan Buchanan 43 and Ryan Griffiths 52 helped Furness 2nds to 114 and victory.

At Ulverston Kirkby in Furness won the toss and put the home team into bat with Luke Kafanke scoring 39 as they made 189 for 9 with all Kirkby bowlers taking a wicket.

Going the distance Kirkby in Furness fell short on 134 with Paul Fugler scoring 32.

It was a good start for Hawcoat Park after winning the toss and batting first with the top five all made double figures with Callum Muncaster leading on 42.

Millom’s Dominic Connor then dismissed 4 batters for 1 run to finish Hawcoat Park’s innings at 173.

Conducting a successful chase Thomas Wilkinson’s 59 and Daniel Mackie’s 47 helped Millom reach 177.

In a low scoring game Workington 2nds were put into bat by Seascale with Lee Fleet taking 5 for 13 as they the hosts were dismissed for 60 with Nick Wood scoring 42.

Seascale did not hang around taking 13 overs to reach 61.

Cockermouth 2nds won the toss at Egremont and decided to bat first.

Jason Holmes made 28 as they were bowled out for 87 with Elizabeth Priddle taking 7 for 24.

In reply Vickram Balakrishnan made 29 as Egremont reached 88.

The fixtures in Division Two were split over two days.

On Saturday July 2 Vickerstown made it nine in a row with victory at home to Haverigg 2nds.

Put into bat first Vickerstown’s Gareth Benson made 50 as they went on to reached 167 before bowling the visitors out for 71.

Second placed Whitehaven 2nds played out a low scoring game at Barrow.

Batting first Barrow were bowled out for 48 with Whitehaven bowler Ben Cavaghan taking 5 for 7 runs.

Whitehaven 2nds did not hang about taking 17 overs to reach 51 to win.

Lindal Moor 2nds won the toss and decided to field putting Dalton 2nds into bat.

Kevin Edwards made 83 as Dalton made 203 from their 40 overs.

In reply Dave Mansergh made 79 but Lindal fell short being bowled out for 151.

On Sunday July 3 Cleator 2nds were put into field by visitors Ulverston 2nds.

They restricted the visitors to 67 with Oliver Carr scoring 36.

Chasing Owen Bell’s 47 set Cleator on the way to 69.
