Wet Weather Does Not Stop Cumbria Cricket League

The weather might have turned wet and wild but the Cumbria Cricket League kept going.

Carlisle made it 10 from 10 in the Premier Division after beating Egremont.

Put into bat by the visitors Carlisle reached 193 with Mike Slack leading the way with 76.

Matthew Hunter top scored for Egremont with 34 as they were bowled out for 100 as Johnny Westgarth finished with 7 wickets.

Cockermouth were put into bat by the home team and reached 75 as the last wicket fell, Workington in response were bowled out for 59.

Keswick took full advantage being put into bat by Haverigg scoring 287 with Risith Upamal scoring 118.

Set a reduced target Haverigg fell short at 76 from 26 overs.

Wigton were put into bat first by Furness with Christopher Hodgson scoring 58 as Wigton finished on 173.

Nathan Waterston’s 114 put Furness on the right track as they hit 176 in 33 overs.

Batting first after losing the toss Millom made 168 away at Dalton with Graham Dawson scoring 56.

The home side were then bowled out for 141 with Dec Tyson taking 5 wickets.

Plenty of runs at Whitehaven as Cleator visited.

Batting first after losing the toss Cleator reached 200 with Darren Clark scoring 79 as Whitehaven bowler Timycen Maruma took 5 wickets for 38.

In reply Whitehaven opener Leo Sanczuk scored 66 on the teams way to 203.

In Division One table topping Lindal Moor got back to winning ways at home to Hawcoat Park.

Winning the toss and batting first Lindal Moor made 216 before being bowled out with James Hale making 56.

The chase started well with Hawcoat Park’s openers reaching 55 before David Muncaster was run out on 28.

Edward Waind then took 5 wickets for 18 runs with Cameron Troughton taking 3 for 15 as Hawcoat Park were bowled out for 109.

Ulverston kept pace at Millom, batting first the visitors made 175 with Ben Dryden scoring 41 and Stuart Cooper 44.

In reply Millom 2nds finished on 135.

At Cockermouth Kirkby in Furness batted first making 177 with Michael Etchells top scoring on 64.

Cockermouth 2nds then took it to the last over needing 4 runs they finished on 173 with Reegan Scott scoring 63.

Winning the toss Seascale made 244 with Steve Brown Junior top scoring with 96.

Furness 2nds’ Jake Lamb scored 65 as they were bowled out for 185.

Workington 2nds won the toss at Egremont and put the home side into bat.

Bowled out for 152 Elizabeth Priddle was the highest scorer of the game with 30.

Carl Jackson then took 5 Workington wickets for 5 runs with Olivia Brinsden taking 3 for 18 as the visitors finished on 62.

The fixtures in Division Two were split over two days but Sunday’s game was abandoned.

On Saturday June 25 Vickerstown made it eight from eight with victory over Barrow.

Batting first after winning the toss Vickerstown made 225 with Jack Litherland scoring 92.

Barrow fell short at 113.

Lindal Moor 2nds recorded an away win against Ulverston 2nds.

Batting first the hosts were bowled out for 125 with Partha Singh top scoring with 45 the visitors were then set a reduced target which Lachlan Wilson, Billy Hughes and Dave Mansergh reached in 18 overs.

Anthony Johnson went the distance for Haverigg 2nds making 73 in 38 overs as the hosts made 141 after being put into bat.

Dalton 2nds were set a reduced target and almost fell short reaching the 122 required with nine wickets lost.

On Sunday June 26 Cleator 2nds match with Whitehaven 2nds was abandoned.
