England Test Captain Ben Stokes Visits Cockermouth Cricket Club

There was a special guest at Cockermouth cricket club as they faced Furness cricket club.

During the Cumbria Cricket League match on Saturday June 18 at Cockermouth’s The Raymond Denham Cricket Oval at Sandair England Test Captain Ben Stokes was in attendance.

Catching up with the club that he played for as a teenager and won the North Lancashire and Cumbria Cricket League Premier Division with.

While Cockermouth lost the toss and were put into the field their bowlers put on a display for the international with Joshua Brown leading with a five wicket haul as they bowled Furness out for 101.

Of the Furness batters only opener Sam Dutton, Lewis Gribbin and Garry Thompson made it to double figures.

In reply Cockermouth didn’t hang about, like Stokes when chasing a total, as Matthew Sempill and Mikyle Louis took them to 103 for 3 in twenty two overs.
