The sun was shining as cricket returned to Cumbria.
In the Premier Division, the top tier of the Cumbria Cricket League returned on Saturday April 23 with six games taking place.
The early start at Workington started well for the hosts as they won the toss and put Whitehaven into bat.
All six of Workington’s bowlers took wickets as they bowled Whitehaven out for 121 in response the home team reached 122 in thirty five overs.
Champions Furness open their defence with a win at home to Haverigg after the visitors won the toss they were bowled out for 104.
In the battle between last seasons second and third place teams Carlisle won the toss and fielded first.
Cockermouth made 177 from their fifty overs, heading into the last three overs Carlisle reached 180 to win.
In the highest scoring innings of the day Keswick made 262 with Risith Upamal making an unbeaten 104 before bowling Dalton out for 126.
Egremont’s return to the Premier Division ended in defeat as Wigton batted first reaching 210 after fifty overs.
In reply Egremont were bowled out for 120.
Millom won the toss and batted first making 203 after fifty overs with Cleator being bowled out for 106.
