Easter Trail Brings Hundreds To Egremont Castle

New life is being breathed into a 1000 year old castle.

Friends of Egremont Castle, founded last year, organised an Easter Trail around the iconic landmark on Sunday, April 17.

Paula Ratcliffe said: “Friends of Egremont Castle were absolutely delighted by the amount of people who turned up to our first event in the Castle grounds.

“We estimated just over 300 young people and adults attended the Easter Trail, way exceeding our expectations, but proves family events are very much in demand.”

While the families might have been expected there was one that was a surprise to those looking for the sweet treats.

Paula said: “It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying themselves in great weather, the attendance of the Easter Bunny was a great treat.

“Generations of local children have grown up using the Castle to create adventures, make camps, learned to ride bikes and used their imaginations to play in a safe environment.

“Egremont Castle is a great community asset and Friends of Egremont Castle want local residents and tourists to enjoy this wonderful open space.

“Due to the success of the Easter Trail we will be looking to create a series of events for the future.”

We certainly can not wait to see what this group has planned for the future.
