Markers Put Down In Opening Round Of Andrea Buggy Women’s League

All five games took place as the Andrea Buggy Women’s League started.

A cool Wednesday, April 13, had the defending champions Newlaithes Ladies FC, begin their defence at home to Stanwix Ladies FC.

An Emma Sisson hat trick and double from Nicola Smith in the first half gave Newlaithes a 5-0 opening win.

Abbeytown Ladies FC went down 0-4 to Penrith AFC Ladies Diamonds who featured four players returning to the game after two years away.

Xtreme Fitness Ladies lost 0-2 to Whitehaven AFC Ladies.

Allerdale Wildcats, a team founded by mothers, had a celebrity endorsement by Carol Thomas former England Women’s captain and first to reach fifty caps for the Lionesses.

Their opponents Cockermouth Highfield Ladies came away with a 1-5 win.

Kendal United Ladies and Vickerstown Ladies played out the highest scoring game of the season as the Vickerstown came away with a 0-10 win.

Next week, April Wednesday 20, Workington Diamond Ladies will start their season at home to Whitehaven AFC Ladies.

Cockermouth Highfield Ladies host Abbeytown Ladies, Penrith AFC Ladies face Kendal United as Stanwix Ladies play Allerdale Wildcats and Xtreme Fitness Ladies face Newlaithes Ladies.
