BAFTA Nominations With It’s A Sin Leading With Eleven

BAFTA has today announced the nominations for the Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards and British Academy Television Craft Awards.

These awards recognise and celebrate the very best in television craft and television programmes broadcast in the UK in 2021.

The Virgin Media BAFTA TV Awards ceremony takes place on Sunday, May 8 on BBC One and BBC One HD.

This year marks Richard Ayoade’s third consecutive year as host as the red carpet event returns to London’s Royal Festival Hall.

The BAFTA TV Craft Awards will take place on Sunday April 24 at The Brewery in London with host details to be announced in due course.

Leading the nominations is It’s A Sin with eleven including Director: Fiction, Leading Actor and Actress, and three Supporting Actor in their total with the spilt of five Craft with six Television Awards nominations.

Landscapers picked up seven nominations, Help, Time and We Are Lady Parts all with six nominations.

Sitting with five is Netflix series Sex Education with Emerging Talent Fiction with Female and Male Performance in a Comedy Role.

With A Very British Scandal gaining four Craft nominations.

Also up for grabs is the public-voted Virgin Media’s Must-See Moment.

These must see moments are:

  • An Audience with Adele – Adele is surprised by the teacher who changed her life
  • I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! – Ant and Dec dig at Downing Street’s lockdown parties
  • It’s A Sin – Colin’s devastating AIDS diagnosis
  • RuPaul’s Drag Race UK – ‘UK Hun?’ – Bimini’s verse
  • Squid Game – Red Light, Green Light game
  • Strictly Come Dancing – Rose and Giovanni’s silent dance to ‘Symphony’

BAFTA’s commitment to supporting and recognising new talent is evident in the increased number of first time TV nominees in the performance categories this year.

Over 50 percent at 28 of the 42 nominees are receiving their first BAFTA TV nomination, with 23 of them receiving their very first BAFTA nomination.
