Lakes College Raises Funds In Support Of Ukraine Appeal

Staff and students at Lakes College have shown their support for those affected by the war in Ukraine.

In response to the on going crisis caused by the Russian invasion the staff and students organised a day of fundraising raising a grand total of £607.70.

The cash will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee, an organisation that brings together 15 of the UK’s leading aid charities to raise funds quickly when there is a crisis overseas.

College principal Chris Nattress said: “It really was a fantastic day here at the college.

“This cause has resonated with us all and I was very impressed by what our students and staff achieved by working together.

“Thanks to everyone’s imagination and efforts we have managed to raise a significant sum in support of a very important cause.”

Fundraisers on the day included cake sales, prize draws, face painting and manicures, and there was even a staff vs student football match, which the staff won after an entertaining and competitive game.

Beauty therapy tutor Kate Johnstone said: “Our beauty therapy students were really excited to be involved in the event.

“They loved the nail and face painting; it gave them the chance to show off everything they have learnt on the course and deliver treatments to a professional standard.

“The stall was always busy and it was lovely raising money for a great cause.”
