Teenage Boy Charged With Attempted Murder After School Stabbing

A teenager has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing in a South Cumbrian school.

Cumbria Police were called by NWAS at around 10.10am, on Tuesday January 25, reporting a pupil having suffered stab injuries following an incident inside Walney School.

The victim, a 15-year-old boy, has suffered multiple stab wounds to their body and has been taken to Alder Hey Hospital via air ambulance having suffered serious injuries.

The youngster was released from hospital on the evening of the incident.

Police arrested a 16-year-old near Barrow train station shortly after.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named due to his age, has been charged overnight with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article on a school premises.

He was remanded in police custody to attend Barrow Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday January 27.
