There’s lots of ways one can pop the question – but how about on stage, at the return of your hometown music festival, in front of your favourite band? Would you say yes? Well, one West Cumbrian woman did.
The Boof festival returned this weekend, not only with live music, but Mark Reed finished off the Friday night, August 13, by proposing to his girlfriend on stage with The Snuts.
Before the number one band finished their set Mark got up on the stage, with his girlfriend Emma Owen, and made the ultimate commitment as he got down on one knee – spoiler, she said ‘yes’.
The couple then danced to their favourite song by the Glaswegian band.
Mark told the Herdwick News: “We both knew it was coming for a while, we’ve been together five years, we’ve got a 14-month-old daughter, Ella Grace, and it had to be special when I was going to do it.
“When Emma started going back to work as she would drive in the car The Snuts CD would play, ‘Top Deck’ would be playing and we have plans to go see them in Hull, but to have the opportunity to do it here [the Boof Festival], on stage, with The Snuts, I’m just so happy.”
The audience went wild – throwing their drinks in the air and cheering – the moment it was confirmed Emma said ‘yes’.
Likewise, Emma was equally as ecstatic as she was almost lost for words.
She said: “I’m over the moon, so happy, it was amazing for him to propose then we just got to listen to our song together.”
The Harrington-based couple will now choose the perfect ring together and plan the big day.
Of course, that wasn’t the only exciting moment of the weekend – the festival returned with huge crowds flocking in to see, not only the Snuts but, The Sherlocks, The Lottery Winners, and hometown favourites; Northern Threads and The Danny Dunnery Band.
