After a short search Egremont Rugby Union has announced their new head coach.
Adam Redhead, who will be taking on the role, said he is ‘excited to be part of the journey’ the club will be taking in a post-COVID world.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to the challenge of working with Egremont RUFC and helping them progress on and off the field.
“I know the club are moving in a new direction and I’m excited to be part of the journey.“
Due to the pandemic there has been no competitive rugby played at their Bleach Green home.
However, the club came together for a pre-season game against Egremont Rugby League as they prepared to start their next season.
The club currently play in the Cumbria League, but no announcements have yet been made as to who the team will take on next.
The teams flourishing youth section has seen players head off to all corners of the professional game with Dylon Briggs, Jensen Burney, Ethan Jonstone and Luke Pae securing trials with Newcastle Falcons in May after George Fisher moved to Leicester Tigers on a scholarship.
In a statement release on social media, on Friday July 2, Egremont Rugby Union said: “We are pleased to be able to announce our new head coach, Adam Redhead. Adam will begin his tenure with the start of Pre-season, Monday, July 5, 6.30pm at the club – All welcome.”
“We’d like to extend a huge welcome to Adam and we look forward to working with him over the coming months.”
