Cumbria Police Appeal For Witnesses After Workington Man’s Body Found In Multi-Agency Search

Cumbria Police is appealing for witnesses in relation to the death of a man in the river Eden, near Lazonby.

The body of the man, aged 40, from Workington, was found following a multi-agency search operation.

Officers received a report of concern for the welfare and that a man fell into the water while out in a boat at 3.21pm on Saturday, April 3.

In response the North West Ambulance Service, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, the Coastguard, mountain rescuers and specialist police divers were also deployed in the operation.

The body of a man was found at around 8.45pm April – the man is yet to be named.

The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and officers are set to prepare a file for the coroner.

Officers are asking for anyone who may have witnessed a number of men in boats near Lazonby at around 3.20pm, that day, to get in touch.

Anyone with information or who witnessed the incident is encouraged to contact PC 2221 Brownrigg on 101, referring to incident 152 of April 3.
