Marie Curie is leading the UK’s National Day of Reflection, a year on from the country entering its first lockdown.
Today, Tuesday March 23, there will be a minute’s silence and a national doorstep vigil as part of a day of reflection.
Marie Curie has outlined the plan for today – a minute’s silence held at 12pm in memory of those who have died in the pandemic and charity is also encouraging the public to light up their doorsteps tonight at 8pm.
It was one year ago today the Prime Minister gave the order for everyone to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.
So Boris Johnson has supported the initiative; and prominent buildings and landmarks will be illuminated across the UK.
The Prince of Wales shared a message via social media in solidarity with the charity.
In the message Prince Charles said: “In their memory, let us resolve to work for a future inspired by our highest values, that have been displayed so clearly by the people of this country through this most challenging of times.”
