Roman Hunting Season Is Open: Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered Is Out Now

The worlds favourite Gauls have returned as Asterix & Obelix have been unleashed on a new generation by Microids and OSome Studio.

The remastered version of there action and adventure title originally released in 2003 is now available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC/Mac.

So young boar-hunting Gauls and confirmed warriors get ready for an adventure and stock up on magic potions.

It’s time to go free the village’s captives held by the Romans.

The game this time doesn’t have the famous village resisting but for once, the village didn’t resist the invader.

All the villagers ended up being kidnapped and are now prisoner scattered all around the world by the Romans.

All that are left are Asterix and Obelix to launch the rescue mission with the loyal Dogmatix and travel to Normandy, Greece, Helvetia and Egypt.

Of course, you’ll eventually end your journey in Rome, since all the roads lead there, to achieve your mission and bring back all your friends safe and sound.

To free Getafix, Panacea, Cacofonix and all their friends, you’ll have to fight a variety of enemies along the way and not just the Romans, but Pirates and even the Vikings.

This “Romastered” version features numerous new elements allowing players to fully dive into this iconic world, including remastered graphics and soundtrack, revamped animations and enhanced gameplay.

Additionally, all the improvements brought by this remaster can be adjusted in the settings menu for a customized experience.

As per usual, players will be able to switch between the two Gauls as they see fit.

Whether they use Obelix’s strength or Asterix’s agility, they’ll have to make the best use of each character’s abilities to complete their mission.

On top of this global enhancement, the game is bringing 4 new game modes for even more Roman slapping enjoyment.

  • The “Obstacle course” mode to challenge player’s agility
  • The “Against the clock” mode for the speed lovers
  • The “Extreme” mode for the bravest Gauls looking for a difficult challenge
  • The “Retro” mode, allowing players to switch between the original graphics and the remastered version

Finally, the icing on the boar, is four different skins for our two heroes with there Gaul outfit, Pirate, Bathing Outfit, Legionary.

A wardrobe worthy of Cleopatra’s.
