Two Cumbrian Teams In Women’s Vitality FA Cup First Qualifying Round

The preliminary rounds are over and the first qualifying round is drawn.

Workington Reds Ladies made the trip to Durham United and almost came unstuck trailing 3-1 at half time before firing in three second half goals to advance to the next round and an away trip to Morecambe Ladies.

Also heading through are Penrith AFC Ladies who beat CLS Amazons Women FC 2-1 in a tight away trip and have a home tie against South Shields LFC in the next round.

Carlisle United Ladies run in the competition came to an empathetic end as Sunderland West End LFC ran out 7-nil winners.

This wasn’t the biggest win of the round as Crewe Alexandra LFC and Fleetwood Town Wrens LFC both put 14 past there opponents while Peterborough Northern Star LFC scored 13.

In Thackley AFC Ladies game with Ripon City Ladies FC it finished 3-all with Ripon going through 4-3 on penalties as did Farsley Celtic Juniors Ladies game against Harrogate Town Ladies after a 2-2 draw with Farsley winning 3-1 on penalties.

In a battle of the debuts in was Helston Athletic who progressed at the expense of Saltash United with a 5-4 thriller in Cornwall.

First Qualifying round games will take place on Sunday, October 4.

October 4 will also have the start of the North West Womens Regional Division One season as Carlisle United Ladies host Penwortham Town Ladies.

Workington Reds Ladies and Penrith AFC Ladies are scheduled to start a week later with home ties against Morecambe Ladies Reserves for Penrith and Preston North End Womens FC First for Workington while Carlisle are away to Sir Tom Finney FC 1st Women.
