Banksy has broken his silence on the Black Lives Matter movement and protests that came as a result of George Floyd’s death.
Floyd, a black man, was killed by a white police Officer who knelt on his neck for over 9 minutes, the incident went viral as it was caught on video and since several protests and demonstrations have taken place across the world.

The infamous street artist posted a new piece of work on social media depicting a flowered candle-lit memorial – clearly for a black victim – beneath a vertically hung American flag.
In the image you can see only the large candle is lit and the flame is spreading to the flag above.
With it Banksy left a rare statement saying the issue is for white people to fix and that ‘people of colour are being failed’.
He said: “At first I thought I should just shut up and listen to black people about this issue.
“But why would I do that? It’s not their problem. It’s mine.
“People of colour are being failed by the system. The white system. Like a broken pipe flooding the apartment of the people living downstairs.
“The faulty system is making their life a misery, but it’s not their job to fix it. They can’t – no-one will let them in the apartment upstairs.
“This is a white problem. And if white people don’t fix it , someone will have to come upstairs and kick the door in.”

This comes ahead of more planned protests, this weekend, across the world and in major cities.
Banksy is the latest in famous names to voice his opinion and support BLM as the Star Wars actor, John Boyega turned out for the London, Hyde Park, protest on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, June 2, people showed their support on social media by posting solid black squares and many companies took part in a digital blackout.
