Pens and pencils at the ready, it’s time to unleash your inner Picasso or Leonardo Da Vinci.
A colouring challenge is now under way for children in Cockermouth and the surrounding areas and first prize will take home £100 of books or art materials.
Castlegate & Derwent Surgery & Pharmacy has launched The BIG Community Children’s Art Competition with the aim of bringing a little cheer into people’s lives.
All submissions should be on A4 paper and can be a collage, drawing or painting that spreads the message of ‘happiness’, with prizes being awarded in three age categories: three to six years, seven to 10, and 11 to 14.
The winning entries will have their design printed on the surgery and pharmacy delivery vans and materials, as well as £100 of books or art materials, and the runners up will get a £50 books or art materials prize.
All designs will be displayed as part of a community digital exhibition project.
Sean Walker, whose distribution company Letterbox Smart is spreading the word about the competition by delivering thousands of leaflets for free in the local area.
He said: “It looks like a great cause, and a good way to keep children entertained at home.
“We have offered our services for free because we want to help keep the community connected in any way that we can.”
