Over £50,000 raised with Mount Kilimanjaro and amount Meru treks

A determined team of trekkers has raised an incredible £62,068.33 for St Mary’s Hospice after successfully climbing Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro.

The group, including members of the clincial team, took on the ambitious dual-summit challenge in January to support the vital work of the hospice.

St Mary’s provides compassionate care and support to patients and families across the local community.

Mel Dixon, Events and Challenges Manager at St Mary’s Hospice, said: “We are incredibly proud of the team to have completed this challenge and even more proud they chose to support St Mary’s Hospice with this fundraising total.

“The experience was unforgettable, but what truly matters is the difference this money will make to people who need care and support.

“We are so grateful to everyone who donated and supported the team along the way.”

Battling high altitudes, tough terrain, and demanding conditions, the team’s efforts have now resulted in a remarkable fundraising total that will make a meaningful difference.

The expedition was months in the making, requiring extensive training, preparation, and commitment.

Throughout the journey, the trekkers were motivated by the cause they were supporting and the generosity of those who donated.

The funds raised will go directly towards helping St Mary’s Hospice continue its essential services, ensuring patients and their loved ones receive the highest standard of care during difficult times.

The team hopes their achievement will inspire others to take on challenges of their own in support of charitable causes.
