The Liberal Democrats have won the by-election for a Penrith Town Council seat.
Barbara Jayson was elected to the Penrith South Ward seat on the Town Council on Thursday, March, 12.

The result of the Penrith South Ward by-election for Westmorland and Furness Council held on Thursday, March, 12 2026 has been declared as follows:
- JAYSON, Barbara, Liberal Democrats, 749 Votes (Elected)
- HOUSTON, Michael John, ReformUK – 588 Votes
- HOFFMANN, Emilia Louise, The Green Party – 225 Votes
- TOLMIE, Maiki, The Conservative and Unionist Party – 173 Votes
Turnout – 23.51 percent
Number of ballots rejected – 4
