A Cumbrian MP made a special delivery of books to a primary school for World Book Day.
Julie Minns, Member of Parliament for Carlisle, visited Longtown Primary School to deliver a donation of new books for the school library.
The visit took place during the week of World Book Day, with the MP arriving to present a collection of titles kindly donated by The Publishers Association and Penguin Random House.

Julie Minns MP said: “I was delighted to visit Longtown Primary School this morning during the week of World Book Day.
“Ensuring our children have access to great stories is vital for their development and imagination.
“This donation comes as part of the Year of Reading, supporting the Government’s strategy to ensure every child has the literacy skills they need to succeed.
“It was wonderful to see the pupils again and witness their enthusiasm for reading, and I am incredibly grateful to The Publishers Association and Penguin Random House for their generosity in supporting our local schools.”
Longtown Primary School Headteacher, Anna added: “We are thrilled to receive such a wonderful donation of books.
“Reading is at the heart of everything we do at Longtown, and having a fresh delivery of high-quality titles from Penguin Random House will provide a real boost to our library.
“It was lovely to welcome Julie back to the school and we are very grateful for her continued support in championing literacy for our pupils.”
The donation follows a visit Julie made to the school last year, shortly after their new library opened.
Having seen the school’s commitment to literacy firsthand, she contacted the publishers to secure additional resources for the pupils.
This initiative is part of a wider effort to bolster literacy and encourage a love of reading across the constituency.
During the visit, Julie met with staff and pupils to discuss their favourite stories and see how the new books will support the school’s commitment to reading for pleasure.
