Entries arriving thick and fast ahead of World Marmalade Awards closing date

Entries into the World Marmalade Awards in Cumbria are arriving thick and fast in advance of the close of entry.

With less than a week left to enter the World Marmalade Awards flavours so far include: Fruits of Valhalla, Beauty Berries from Florida, Czech mountain honey, smoked plum, Hangzhou chrysanthemum and Canadian maple.

Jars have arrived at Dalemain Mansion in the Lake District from all over the planet including entries from Croatia, Finland, South Africa, Argentina and Japan.

2026 is the twenty first year of the Awards which were started in 2005.

There are entries from octogenarians in Germany entering as a group, squirrel packaging from Australia and tastes include yuzu and prosecco, naval oranges from the USA, limequats from a garden in Taiwan, osmanthus, peach and pink lemons with multi coloured peppercorns; honey from bees found in the JesenĂ­ky Mountains in the Czech Republic.

As well as an entry from a descendant of the woman who started Keillers marmalade – believed to have been the first commercial marmalade brand made in Great Britain.

Collection Points are now closed but you can still post your jar direct to the Awards before February 2.

Over 500 jars have been delivered to official Collection Points around the UK including along the Marmalade Motorway, where contestants delivered an entry to the Farm Shop counters at Tebay, Gloucester or Cairn Lodge service stations and received a jar in return.

At Fortnums you could receive a jar in return for your entry at their Picadilly store.

A Taste From Home Marmalade is a category inspired by our refugee patron Paddington Bear for those who want to celebrate old and new food cultures with their entries.

Westmorland FarmShop Local Flavours Marmalade is one to celebrate local flavours such as local sea water from Scotland.

The Adfin Tea Marmalade category encourages cooking with tea in your recipe perhaps a Green tea and Grapefruit marmalade while Lycetts Signature Savoury Marmalade demonstrates that marmalade goes with everything, not just toast.

The Marvellous Makers of Marmalade is for any of the three hundred past category winners from the last 21 years to battle it out.

The Homemade winner will be announced at the festival at Dalemain on April 25 as National Marmalade Week comes to a spectacular close after turning the area orange for the week.

Marmalade entries will be available to view, lectures and Q&A’s connected to marmalade and marmalade Artisan winners available to taste and take home with you from our shop.

The Mansion and gardens will also be open for entry.
