Jigsaw, Cumbria’s only children’s Hospice, has brought back its much-loved Bikes Boats Boots event.
Hosted in Glenridding on Saturday, May 9, all of the activities of the day will start and end at the basecamp.

Whether you’re going all-in or tackling it as a relay, this is your chance to bond with your team, soak in the stunning Lake District and raise vital funds to help improve the lives of local children and young adults with medically complex and life-limiting conditions.
Suzanne Garbarino, Head of Clinical Services, said: “Your support means we can give a family much-needed respite and a child a grand day out surrounded by friends.
“We support these families during the toughest of times and will continue to be there for them over their lifetimes, which can be decades.
“We rely on the generosity of our local community to fund 80 percent of what we do, with only around 20 percent of our funding from the NHS.
“The funds you raise by taking part could give a local family memories to cherish for a lifetime.”
The challenge consists of 3 stages:
1. Cycle 34km through rolling hills and lakeside roads
2. Canoe 3km across the sparkling waters of Ullswater
3. Hike 17km to the summit of Helvellyn, one of England’s most iconic peaks
On completion, you will be welcomed as a hospice hero for food, fizz and celebrations for your incredible achievements.

Please feel free to invite your family and friends to support throughout the day and to celebrate with you at the end of the day.
Every stroke of the paddle, every step up the mountain, and every pound raised helps Jigsaw support children and young adults throughout Cumbria, offering high-quality medical, clinical and emotional care, as well as respite.
The staff take a holistic and individualised approach that supports the whole family, from siblings to carers.
There are different ways to take part depending on how you want to experience your day.
Start by choosing your team; All-in Team (2–4 people), Relay 2 (4–6 people), Relay 4 (6–12 people).
A £50 donation per person secures your place and includes a welcome pack, event t-shirt, snacks, post-event meal, medal, and a celebratory drink.
However, you choose to fundraise, the hospice Fundraising team are there to support you every step of the way.
The event will be led by Adventure Element, who will provide the safety and logistics of the day and always contribute to the fun and camaraderie on the day.
AST, signmakers based in Penrith, is kindly sponsoring the day and has continued to do so since Bikes Boats Boots began.
Mark Aston, Managing Director of Ast said: “We can’t praise the work of the hospice enough, so we’re incredibly proud to once again support Bikes Boats Boots.
“We encourage all local businesses to enter a team if they can – it’s an amazing event and great for team building.”
This is more than a challenge – it’s a chance to be part of something truly special.
