A GoFundMe has been launched as the West Cumbrian community has paid tribute to ‘thoughtful and kind’ woman who died in A5086 crash.
At around 3am on Thursday, January 8, police responded to reports of a crash near Longlands Lake, in West Cumbria.
The single-car crash took place on the A5086 at the Woodend junction, just after Longlands Lake, and involved a black Vauxhall Corsa.
One passenger, a woman in her 20s suffered, serious injuries and remains in hospital.
The other occupants of the vehicle were also taken to hospital with “less serious injuries”.
However, following the crash the woman who suffered serious injuries died in hospital.

She has been named as 28-year-old Lauren-Emily Oliver, from Whitehaven.
Lauren-Emily’s mother, Dawn Oliver, has led the tributes to her daughter, as hundreds have poured in alongside it.
Her mother wrote on social media: “This is the hardest message we have had to post as a family. In the early hours of Thursday 8th of January 2026 our beautiful, kind, talented Lauren-Emily Oliver was a passenger in a tragic car incident involving black ice.”
Mrs Oliver went on to say her family’s hearts “are broken into a billion pieces”, but stated her daughter had been an organ doner.
“Lauren, being the thoughtful, kind person she was wanted to be an organ donor.
“Thank you to all the NHS staff who have been so attentive to her and her wishes, throughout this time.
“She will be helping numerous families with all her organs including her beautiful big soft heart.”
Lauren-Emily has been remembered by several establishments in Whitehaven including, Barra Jacks, The Wellington and Twisted Tongue.
Each has paid tribute to Lauren-Emily and remembered her ‘talent and beautiful voice’.
A GoFundMe was set up in her memory to “bring our star home and send her on her next journey up in the sky”.
So far more than £2,000 has been raised.
