Single-car crash leaves one in hospital with serious injuries and causes road closures

A West Cumbria road was closed for several hours after a single-car crash that left one person in hospital with serious injuries.

At around 3am on Thursday, January 8, police responded to reports of a crash near Longlands Lake, in West Cumbria.

The single-car crash took place on the A5086 at the Woodend junction, just after Longlands Lake.

Cumbria Police told The Herdwick News there were four occupants in the car.

Two were taken to hospital – one with serious injuries.

The road between Egremont and Cleator Moor was closed for several hours and reopened shortly before 11am.
