A man has been left hospitalised with serious injuries after a crash involving a van in Carlisle.
At 2:50pm on Sunday, January 4, police responded to reports a pedestrian had been hit by a van in Carlisle.
Police and emergency services attended the scene on Prescott Road where a pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital via ambulance.
He remains in hospital with serious injuries.
An air ambulance also attended the scene to provide medical assistance.
Police launched an investigation and are asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: “An investigation has been launched, and officers are appealing for any sightings of the van, which made off from the scene, and the driver, believed to be a man in his late 20s.
“The van is a blue Fiat Scudo, registration: WN57 CLX.
“Anyone with any information into the whereabouts of the van or the driver, or any information regarding the incident which may assist the investigation is asked to contact police by calling 101.
“Residents in the area will see an increased police presence while officers carry out enquiries.”
