Shap and Penrith fire stations made a rare Christmas Day call out as a chimney fire was reported.

Thankfully the incident was resolved quickly and all concerned were able to return to their Christmas festivities.

A spokesperson for Shap fire station said: “A Christmas Day call out isn’t something we see often and thankfully the incident was resolved swiftly and our on call crew were able to return to our families whom we are forever grateful to for being so patient and understanding in allowing us to carry out our role as firefighters whatever day of the year it may be.

“Enjoy what remains of the festive period all.”
