Police name man at centre of Cumbrian murder investigation

Cumbria Police has revealed the identity of the man at the centre of a murder investigation after a man’s body was found.

At 5:35am on Monday, December 22, police responded to reports of an unresponsive man at the property in Silloth. 

When police entered the Fell Close property a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man has now been identified as Stanley Smith, 73, from Silloth.

A murder investigation was launched and a 33-year-old man was arrested.

Brian Smith, 33, from Abbeytown charged with murder, is to appear in Workington Magistrates court today (24 December).
