A man had been charged with murder as part of an investigation into an unexplained death of a man in his 70s.

At 5:35am on Monday, December 22, police responded to reports of an unresponsive man at the property in Silloth.

When police entered the Fell Close property a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following this a 33-year-old man was arrested.

Brian Smith, from Abbeytown, was then charged with murder.

He has been remanded into custody and is to appear in court on Wednesday, December 24.
