Woman in hospital with serious injuries after Barrow crash

A woman in her 80s has been hospitalised after suffering serious injuries following a crash in Barrow.

At 4:16pm on Wednesday, December 10, police responded to reports of a crash in Barrow.

The incident involved a car and a pedestrian on Hindpool Road, near DW Fitness.

The pedestrian – a woman, in her eighties, from the Barrow area – sustained serious injuries.

She was taken to Royal Preston Hospital, where her condition was described as serious. 

The driver of the car – a man, in his forties – was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was bailed pending further enquiries.

The road was closed for a number of hours while a forensic collision investigation was carried out.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: “Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information is asked to call police on 101, referring to log 177 of December 10.”
