Police seek couple after Carlisle incident involving alleged knife threat

Police are appealing for a couple with a young child to come forward after an incident in Carlisle in which a man allegedly issued knife threats before being arrested.

The incident on Wednesday, December 3, happened at some time between 5.30pm and 6.30pm, on Raffles Avenue in Carlisle.

A group of two men, a woman and a girl, were speaking to one another at this time when a man and a woman with a young child walked past.

One of the men from the group then reportedly yelled at the couple with the child to “shut up” as the child was crying.

Police said the couple with the young child continued to walk away when it is alleged the man who yelled at them went into his home and came out holding a knife and yelling threats in the direction of the couple and the child.

Cumbria Police is attempting to identify the couple with the child as they may be able to assist officers with their investigation.

The investigation has already resulted in a 59-year-old man being arrested on suspicion of threatening a person with a bladed article.

Cumbria Police is encouraging this couple to contact police.
